The Jealous Sister

Ceritasakti.com - Once upon a time, in the prosperous Kingdom of Daha in East Java, lived a wise king named King Kertamarta. He had two beautiful daughters named Princess Candra Kirana and Princess Dewi Galuh.

While they were both stunningly beautiful, their personalities were completely opposite. Candra Kirana was incredibly kind, gentle, and deeply loved by everyone in the kingdom.

On the other hand, her sister, Dewi Galuh, was deeply arrogant, greedy, and easily jealous of other people's happiness.

One day, a handsome and noble prince named Raden Inu Kertapati from the Kahuripan Kingdom came to Daha. He arrived to propose to the kind-hearted Princess Candra Kirana.

The King happily accepted the proposal, and a grand engagement was announced. However, this joyous news made Dewi Galuh burn with intense jealousy because she secretly wanted the handsome prince for herself.

The Dark Curse of Keong Mas

Unable to control her bitter envy, Dewi Galuh secretly left the palace and visited a wicked witch deep inside the dark forest.

"I want you to curse my sister, Candra Kirana! Make her so utterly disgusting that the Prince will cancel the wedding!" Dewi Galuh demanded angrily.

The wicked witch agreed. She kidnapped Candra Kirana and cast a powerful, dark spell on her. In a flash of terrifying light, the beautiful princess was transformed into a shiny Golden Snail, known as Keong Mas.

"This curse will only be broken if you reunite with your true love!" the witch cackled wickedly. She then threw the Golden Snail into a fast-flowing river, washing the princess far away from her home.

The Miracle in the Village Hut

The Golden Snail floated down the river for days until it was finally caught in the fishing net of a kind, poor old grandmother from a peaceful village.

Fascinated by the snail's beautiful, shimmering golden shell, the grandmother gently took it home and placed it safely inside a clay water jar in her kitchen.

The next morning, the grandmother went to the forest to gather firewood. When she returned, she was completely shocked.

Her humble dining table was miraculously filled with a massive feast of delicious, warm food, and her messy house was cleaned to absolute perfection.

This magical event happened every single day. Determined to find out who her mysterious helper was, the grandmother decided to pretend to leave the house one morning, but secretly peeked through a hole in the kitchen wall.

A True Love's Journey

To her absolute amazement, she saw the Golden Snail slowly transform into a breathtakingly beautiful young woman. The grandmother immediately rushed inside and hugged the princess.

Candra Kirana tearfully explained her tragic story and the cruel curse her sister had placed upon her. From that day on, the princess lived with the grandmother, helping her every day.

Meanwhile, back in the kingdom, Prince Raden Inu Kertapati refused to give up. He disguised himself as an ordinary traveler and wandered from village to village, desperately searching for his missing fiancée.

The wicked witch tried to stop him by transforming into a talking crow and giving him the wrong directions, but a wise old sage magically appeared and defeated the witch's illusions.

"Go to the village near the edge of the river, brave Prince. Your destiny awaits you there," the wise sage instructed.

The Spell is Broken

After walking for days, the exhausted Prince finally arrived at a small, humble village. He approached a wooden hut to ask for a simple cup of water.

When the wooden door opened, he could not believe his eyes. Standing right in front of him was his beloved Princess Candra Kirana!

The moment their eyes met, the wicked witch's dark magic shattered into a million pieces. The curse was finally broken permanently by the power of true love.

Prince Raden Inu Kertapati immediately brought Candra Kirana and the kind grandmother back to the Kingdom of Daha.

When King Kertamarta learned the dark truth, he was furious. Terrified of her father's punishment, the wicked Dewi Galuh fled into the deep forest and was never seen again. Candra Kirana and the Prince were finally married, and they lived happily ever after.

⏱ Read time: 8 minutes -

Story Summary:
This famous traditional folklore tells the story of two step-sisters with completely opposite personalities. Bawang Putih is a kind, hardworking, and patient girl, while her step-sister, Bawang Merah, is incredibly lazy, arrogant, and greedy. A lost red scarf and a magical pumpkin soon test their characters, proving that genuine kindness will always be rewarded, while greed will only bring disaster.

The Two Opposite Sisters

Ceritasakti.com - Once upon a time, in a quiet and peaceful village, lived a wealthy merchant with his beautiful, kind-hearted daughter named Bawang Putih. Her name, which translates to "Garlic," perfectly matched her pure, gentle, and bright personality.

Unfortunately, Bawang Putih’s biological mother passed away when she was still a little girl. Hoping to give his daughter a motherly figure, her father eventually married a widow who had a daughter named Bawang Merah, which means "Shallot."

At first, the stepmother and Bawang Merah treated Bawang Putih with love and care. However, their true colors were quickly revealed shortly after Bawang Putih’s loving father tragically fell ill and passed away.

Without her father around to protect her, Bawang Putih’s life turned into a daily nightmare. Her cruel stepmother and Bawang Merah treated her like a lowly servant in her own home.

Every single day, she was forced to wake up before dawn to clean the house, cook all the meals, and wash a mountain of dirty clothes in the river, while Bawang Merah did absolutely nothing but sleep and complain.

The Lost Red Scarf

Despite the endless abuse and harsh words, Bawang Putih never once complained. She remained patient, always smiling and singing gently while doing her heavy chores.

One sunny morning, Bawang Putih carried a heavy basket of dirty clothes to the nearby river. The water current was unusually strong that day due to the heavy rain from the previous night.

While she was busy washing, she did not realize that her stepmother’s favorite red scarf had slipped from the washing stone. The scarf was quickly swept away by the fast-moving river current.

When Bawang Putih finally noticed it, the red scarf was already floating far away. She panicked and tried to chase it down the riverbank, but the rushing water was simply too fast.

Knowing that her stepmother would punish her severely, Bawang Putih bravely decided to follow the river stream into the deep forest, hoping to find the lost piece of clothing.

The Wise Grandmother and the Small Pumpkin

Bawang Putih walked for hours until the sky slowly turned dark. Finally, she arrived at a small, humble wooden hut near the edge of the river.

An old, wrinkly grandmother stepped out of the hut and smiled warmly at the tired young girl. Bawang Putih politely bowed and asked if the grandmother had seen a red scarf floating by the river.

"I did find a beautiful red scarf this afternoon, my dear," the old woman said gently. "I will gladly return it to you, but you must help me clean my hut and cook my dinner for an entire week."

Without any hesitation, Bawang Putih agreed. For the next seven days, she worked diligently, cleaning the hut until it sparkled and cooking delicious, warm meals for the grandmother.

Impressed by the young girl’s genuine kindness and hard work, the grandmother finally returned the red scarf. Before Bawang Putih left, the old woman offered her a gift, presenting two pumpkins: one was massive, and the other was very small.

Because Bawang Putih was humble and did not want to carry a heavy burden on her long walk home, she politely chose the small pumpkin and thanked the grandmother sincerely.

A Golden Surprise

When Bawang Putih arrived home, her stepmother and Bawang Merah were furious because she had been gone for a week.

They yelled at her aggressively, snatched the red scarf, and angrily smashed the small pumpkin Bawang Putih was holding onto the kitchen floor.

However, instead of pumpkin seeds, the room was suddenly filled with a blinding, sparkling light. The small pumpkin was magically filled with pure gold, sparkling diamonds, and precious jewels!

The greedy stepmother and Bawang Merah immediately pushed Bawang Putih away and collected all the treasure for themselves.

The Greedy Sister's Journey

Blinded by extreme greed, the stepmother formulated a cunning plan. She ordered Bawang Merah to intentionally throw the red scarf into the river and follow the exact same steps Bawang Putih had taken.

Bawang Merah walked lazily down the riverbank, complaining about the heat and the mud, until she finally found the old grandmother's hut.

Just like before, the grandmother asked Bawang Merah to help her for a week. However, the lazy girl refused to do any chores. She slept all day, demanded the grandmother to cook for her, and spoke with extreme disrespect.

After a week of terrible behavior, Bawang Merah arrogantly demanded the red scarf and her reward. The grandmother calmly brought out the two pumpkins.

Driven by intense greed, Bawang Merah immediately snatched the massive pumpkin without even saying thank you, dreaming of the infinite wealth she was about to receive.

The Price of Greed

Bawang Merah ran home as fast as she could. She and her mother quickly locked all the doors and windows, wanting to keep all the massive treasure entirely for themselves.

With trembling hands and greedy smiles, they smashed the giant pumpkin open. But to their absolute horror, there was no gold inside.

Instead, hundreds of venomous snakes, deadly scorpions, and giant spiders crawled out of the broken pumpkin, hissing and attacking them furiously.

The stepmother and Bawang Merah screamed in terror, running out of the house in complete panic. They finally realized that their arrogance, laziness, and cruelty had brought them nothing but disaster.

They immediately fell to their knees, crying and begging Bawang Putih for forgiveness. Because Bawang Putih had a heart of pure gold, she forgave them both. From that day on, the stepmother and Bawang Merah completely changed their ways and lived peacefully together as a loving family.

The Moral of the Story

This timeless folklore teaches us that genuine kindness, patience, and humility will always bring unexpected blessings and true happiness in our lives. On the other hand, arrogance, laziness, and greed will only lead a person to ultimate destruction and regret.

The Legend of Lake Toba A Tale of a Broken Promise

The Legend of Lake Toba A Tale of a Broken Promise

Illustration of a classic Indonesian folklore showing a magical golden fish turning into a beautiful woman near a river in a lush green forest.

⏱ Read time: 8 minutes -

Story Summary:
This legendary folklore from North Sumatra tells the story of a hardworking farmer named Toba who catches a magical golden fish. The fish transforms into a beautiful woman who agrees to marry him under one strict condition: he must never reveal her secret origin. Years later, a moment of blinding anger causes Toba to break his sacred promise, triggering a massive natural disaster that forms the magnificent Lake Toba and Samosir Island.

The Lonely Farmer in the Valley

Ceritasakti.com - Once upon a time, in a peaceful and fertile valley in North Sumatra, lived a hardworking young farmer named Toba. He lived a very simple life, residing in a modest wooden hut surrounded by vast, green farming fields.

Every single day, Toba worked tirelessly from sunrise to sunset. He planted crops, tended to his vegetables, and fished in the nearby crystal-clear river to provide food for himself.

Despite his incredible work ethic and peaceful life, Toba often felt a deep sense of loneliness. He had no family, no wife, and no children to welcome him home after a long, exhausting day under the scorching sun.

He often sat by the riverbank, staring at the flowing water, quietly wishing that someday he would find a companion to share his simple life with.

The Magical Golden Catch

One late afternoon, after finishing his work in the fields, Toba decided to go fishing. He sat patiently by the river for hours, but not a single fish took his bait.

Just as he was about to give up and head home, his fishing rod suddenly jerked violently. Toba pulled with all his might, struggling against a surprisingly strong force hidden beneath the water.

When he finally reeled his catch in, Toba gasped in absolute disbelief. Attached to his hook was a massive fish, but it was not an ordinary river fish.

The creature possessed scales that shimmered brightly like pure, solid gold. It was the most beautiful and majestic fish Toba had ever laid his eyes upon in his entire life.

A Secret Vow and a New Beginning

Toba carefully placed the golden fish into his woven basket and hurried home, planning to cook a delicious dinner. However, when he reached his kitchen, a blinding magical light suddenly filled the room.

Toba shielded his eyes in pure shock. When the light faded, the golden fish had vanished completely. In its place stood a breathtakingly beautiful woman dressed in elegant traditional silk.

"Do not be afraid, kind Toba," the woman spoke with a gentle, soothing voice. "I am a princess who was cursed to become a fish. By catching me, you have broken the spell, and I am forever grateful."

Toba was completely captivated by her grace. Without hesitation, he asked the mysterious woman to be his wife. The woman smiled sweetly but raised one finger to establish a strict condition.

"I will gladly marry you, Toba. But you must swear a sacred oath. You must never, under any circumstances, tell anyone that I was once a fish. Not even to our future children."

Toba eagerly agreed to the condition, promising with all his heart to protect her secret forever.

The Birth of Samosir

Toba and the beautiful woman were soon married, and they lived a very happy and prosperous life together. Their happiness multiplied when they were blessed with a healthy baby boy, whom they named Samosir.

As years passed, Samosir grew into a strong and active young boy. However, he had a very peculiar habit. Samosir had a massive, insatiable appetite and was incredibly lazy when it came to doing chores.

He could eat enough food meant for three adult men in a single sitting. His mother always patiently cooked large meals for him, spoiling him with love, while Toba continued to work hard in the fields to support his growing family.

The Disastrous Lunch Delivery

One extremely hot and tiring day, Samosir's mother asked the boy to deliver a basket of freshly cooked lunch to his father in the fields. Samosir grumbled but eventually took the basket and began his walk.

Along the way, the delicious aroma of the roasted fish and warm rice tempted his massive appetite. Unable to control his hunger, Samosir sat under a shady tree and ate almost the entire meal, leaving only a few fish bones and a handful of rice.

Meanwhile, Toba was waiting under the scorching sun, his stomach growling furiously. When Samosir finally arrived late, Toba eagerly opened the basket, expecting a hearty meal.

His excitement instantly turned into blinding rage when he saw the empty plates. "Where is my food, Samosir? I have been working all day, and you bring me nothing but leftovers!" Toba shouted.

"I was hungry on the way here, Father, so I ate it," Samosir answered innocently without showing any regret.

The Broken Promise

Toba’s exhaustion and hunger completely clouded his judgment. In a fit of uncontrollable anger, he slapped the basket away and yelled the forbidden words he had sworn to keep secret.

"You ungrateful, greedy child! You truly are the son of a fish!" Toba roared, his voice echoing across the silent valley.

The moment those words left his mouth, a sudden, terrifying silence fell over the land. Samosir burst into tears and ran as fast as his legs could carry him all the way back to their wooden hut.

He cried to his mother, repeating the harsh words his father had shouted at him. The mother's face turned completely pale, and tears streamed down her beautiful face. She knew instantly that her husband had broken his sacred vow.

The Great Flood and Samosir Island

Heartbroken and devastated, the mother told Samosir to run to the highest hill in the valley and never look back. As soon as the boy reached the hilltop, the mother stepped out of the house.

Dark, menacing clouds instantly swallowed the bright sky. Lightning struck the ground violently, and a deafening roar of thunder shook the entire earth.

The mother slowly transformed back into a giant golden fish and vanished into the river. Suddenly, water burst forth from the ground with unimaginable force, flooding the entire valley in a matter of minutes.

Toba, who had realized his fatal mistake, tried to run back home, but it was too late. The massive flood swept him away, drowning the valley and creating a massive, deep lake.

The magnificent lake is now known to the world as Lake Toba. Meanwhile, the high hill where the boy stood safe from the flood remained above water, creating the beautiful landmass known today as Samosir Island.

The Moral of the Story

The tragic legend of Lake Toba carries a very powerful and timeless moral message for us all. It teaches us the absolute importance of keeping our promises, no matter how difficult the situation might be.

Furthermore, it reminds us to always control our anger. Words spoken in a moment of blinding rage can cause permanent destruction that we will regret for the rest of our lives.

The Classic Fable of the Tortoise and the Rabbit A Race of Perseverance

The Classic Fable of the Tortoise and the Rabbit A Race of Perseverance

Illustration of a classic fable showing a slow green tortoise crossing a finish line while a fast brown rabbit runs in panic behind him.

⏱ Read time: 7 minutes-

Story Summary:
This legendary fable tells the story of a footrace between an incredibly fast Rabbit and a remarkably slow-walking Tortoise. Extreme arrogance caused the Rabbit to underestimate his opponent, leading him to fall fast asleep in the middle of the race. Thanks to his sheer determination and an unyielding spirit, the Tortoise successfully won the competition, teaching a highly valuable lesson to the conceited Rabbit.

A Bright Morning in the Forest

Ceritasakti.com - The morning sun shone warmly through the leaves of a peaceful, lush forest. The cheerful chirping of birds echoed, welcoming a bright new day.

In the middle of a vast meadow, a group of animals gathered to enjoy their breakfast. There were squirrels eating nuts, deer chewing fresh grass, and a brown Rabbit hopping around joyfully.

This Rabbit was incredibly famous throughout the entire forest. He had strong, muscular hind legs that allowed him to run as fast as lightning, easily outpacing all the other animals.

The Arrogance of the Fast Runner

Unfortunately, the Rabbit's remarkable speed made him incredibly arrogant. He loved showing off his running skills in front of the smaller animals every single day.

"Look at me run! There is not a single animal in this forest who can match my speed," the Rabbit boasted while sprinting rapidly around the herd of deer.

The other animals could only sigh at the Rabbit's conceited behavior. They did not dare to argue because no one had ever managed to beat him in a footrace.

Suddenly, from behind the bushes, a green Tortoise emerged, walking at a very slow pace. His sturdy shell made every step look like a massive effort.

A Challenge to Race

Seeing the Tortoise arrive, the Rabbit burst into uncontrollable laughter, holding his stomach in amusement.

"Hey, you slow Tortoise! What are you doing here? If you walk that slowly, you will only reach the other side of the hill by next year!" the Rabbit mocked condescendingly.

The Tortoise looked calmly into the Rabbit's eyes without showing the slightest hint of anger. He was well aware of his physical limitations, but he possessed a steadfast and patient heart.

"You are indeed a very fast runner, Rabbit. But speed is not everything if you lack perseverance," the Tortoise replied in a gentle yet authoritative voice.

Feeling slighted by the slowest animal in the forest, the offended Rabbit challenged the Tortoise to a race from the meadow to the edge of the opposite hill. Without any hesitation, the Tortoise accepted.

Cheers at the Starting Line

News of the absurd race quickly spread to every corner of the forest. The next morning, almost all the animals gathered at the starting line to witness the event.

A large Elephant acted as the race referee. He raised his trunk high into the air as a signal to get ready.

"Are you both ready? Three, two, one, gooo..!" the Elephant shouted, blowing a loud trumpet blast from his trunk.

The race officially began under the roaring cheers of the audience, breaking the usual silence of the dense forest.

Running as Fast as the Wind

As soon as the signal was given, the Rabbit darted forward like an arrow released from its bow. Dust flew into the air, clouding the vision of the animals at the starting line.

In just a matter of seconds, the Rabbit's silhouette disappeared around the bend of the dirt path. He ran incredibly far ahead, leaving his opponent in the dust.

Meanwhile, the Tortoise had just taken his very first step with great effort. He swung his short legs one by one, his breathing already starting to grow heavy.

The spectating animals felt pity watching the Tortoise struggle. However, the shelled reptile kept looking straight ahead with eyes full of sheer determination.

Falling Asleep Under a Shady Tree

Far along the midpoint of the track, the Rabbit stopped for a moment to look back. He chuckled to himself because the Tortoise was completely out of sight.

"He must still be at the starting line. This race is so boring because I will definitely win with ease," the Rabbit muttered, feeling highly confident.

The sun began to feel scorching hot against his fur. The Rabbit noticed a large, incredibly shady banyan tree resting right by the edge of the path.

He decided to lean against the tree for a moment while snacking on a few carrots he had brought along. A gentle, soothing breeze made the Rabbit's eyelids feel heavy until he finally fell fast asleep.

Small Steps of Perseverance

On the other side, the Tortoise continued taking steps without a single pause. Sweat soaked his neck, and his shell felt increasingly heavy under the blazing midday sun.

Even though his pace was incredibly slow, the Tortoise had absolutely no intention of stopping to rest. He kept fueling the unyielding spirit within himself.

After hours of walking along the track, the Tortoise finally reached the halfway mark. He saw the Rabbit snoring soundly under the shade of the banyan tree.

The Tortoise smiled slightly at his opponent's carelessness. He kept his footsteps quiet, passing the dreaming Rabbit, and slowly approached the finish line that was now in sight.

The Tortoise's Victory

The cheers of the spectators at the finish line began to echo faintly, welcoming the Tortoise's arrival. The thunderous noise startled the Rabbit, waking him from his deep slumber.

He rubbed his eyes in panic and stared sharply down the track. His heart pounded wildly when he saw the Tortoise just a few steps away from the victory ribbon.

The Rabbit immediately jumped up and pushed his legs as hard as he could to catch up. He ran as fast as a storm, ignoring the stiffness in his muscles from sleeping for hours.

However, it was all too late. Right as the Rabbit leaped to grab the ribbon, the Tortoise's foot had already stepped across the finish line. The Tortoise was officially the first-place winner!

The Arrogant Rabbit's Regret

All the animals in the forest cheered joyfully, celebrating the Tortoise's extraordinary victory. They gently patted the Tortoise's shell as a sign of respect for his diligence.

The Rabbit fell to his knees on the dusty ground, panting heavily with a face full of shame. He bowed his head, realizing how foolish and arrogant he had been all along.

The Tortoise slowly approached the Rabbit, who was mourning his defeat. He patted the Rabbit's shoulder very gently.

"Do not be sad, my friend. You are still the fastest runner in this forest. It is just that arrogance made you careless," the Tortoise said with a sincere smile.

The Rabbit nodded slowly, shedding tears of deep regret. From that day forward, he promised never to underestimate anyone in the forest ever again.

What is the Moral of the Story?

This legendary fable tale between these two animals has always served as a powerful reminder for us all. The moral message of the Tortoise and the Rabbit teaches that perseverance and an unyielding spirit will always overcome arrogance.

No matter how much talent we possess, it is utterly useless if we constantly underestimate others and act lazily. Conversely, even if we have many shortcomings, taking small, consistent steps will undoubtedly lead us to the pinnacle of success.

The Inspiring Tale of Uwais Al-Qarni A Son's Ultimate Devotion

The Inspiring Tale of Uwais Al-Qarni A Son's Ultimate Devotion

Illustration of a strong young man carrying his elderly mother on his back walking through a beautiful golden desert landscape.

⏱ Read time: 8 minutes-

Story Summary:
This classic tale recounts the life of Uwais Al-Qarni, a poor young man from Yemen who was deeply devoted to his paralyzed mother. Although he never met Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in person because he had to stay home to care for her, his name was highly honored by the angels. This story teaches us that true devotion to our parents can transcend the boundaries of this world and open the doors of divine blessing.

A Humble Shepherd in Yemen

Ceritasakti.com - Deep in the rural outskirts of Yemen during the prophetic era, lived a young man named Uwais Al-Qarni. His life was incredibly simple and far removed from any worldly luxury.

Uwais was not a nobleman or a wealthy merchant respected by the city folk. He was merely a poor sheep herder who suffered from a skin condition that left white patches on his body.

Despite his humble appearance, Uwais possessed the most valuable treasure in the world. That treasure was his beloved mother, who was elderly, blind, and completely paralyzed.

Every single day, Uwais cared for his mother with immense patience. He fed her, bathed her, and carried her wherever they needed to go without ever complaining or showing a tired face.

A Deep Yearning to Meet the Messenger

Even though he lived far away in Yemen, news of the kindness and teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had reached Uwais's ears. His heart trembled, harboring a deep desire to see the Messenger of God in person.

Day and night, Uwais would often shed tears over his situation. He desperately wanted to travel to Medina, but he couldn't bear to leave his sick mother alone at home.

Seeing her son often lost in sad thoughts, his mother finally understood what was in his heart.

"Go to Medina, my son. Meet the Messenger and send my regards to him. After that, come home quickly to take care of me," she said, giving her permission with a trembling voice.

Uwais's heart leaped with joy. He quickly prepared some meager supplies, kissed his mother's forehead, and entrusted her to a kind neighbor who agreed to watch over her temporarily.

A Journey That Tested His Heart

The journey from Yemen to Medina was not an easy feat. Uwais had to push through fierce sandstorms in the desert and endure the scorching heat of the sun for days.

The exhaustion in his legs seemed to vanish every time he imagined finally meeting the person he loved most in this world.

However, fate had a different plan. When he arrived in Medina and knocked on the Prophet's door, he was greeted by Lady Aisha. She informed him that the Prophet was away leading an expedition and wouldn't return for a few days.

Uwais's heart sank instantly. He was faced with an incredibly difficult choice.

If he waited in Medina, he could fulfill his greatest dream. But on the other hand, he remembered his promise to return quickly because his paralyzed mother was surely waiting for him.

A Promise Greater Than Personal Desire

Uwais bowed his head deeply. His love and devotion to his mother proved to be much stronger, easily overcoming his own personal desires.

"Please send my regards to the Messenger of God. I must return to Yemen immediately because my sick mother is waiting for me," Uwais excused himself, tears rolling down his cheeks.

He walked away, leaving Medina without ever getting the chance to see the face of the Prophet.

When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ returned to Medina, he immediately asked about Uwais's arrival. The Prophet then smiled and praised the pure heart of the Yemeni youth who chose to prioritize his mother.

An Unconventional Training on the Hill

A few years later, his mother expressed a wish that sounded utterly impossible to fulfill.

"My son, I might not have much time left. I really want to go and perform the Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy House in Mecca," she whispered, holding Uwais's hand.

The distance between Yemen and Mecca was incredibly vast, spanning hundreds of miles across the unforgiving desert. They had no money to rent a camel or buy a carriage.

However, Uwais refused to disappoint his mother. He immediately came up with a plan that seemed completely irrational to the local villagers.

The next day, Uwais bought a baby calf. From morning until dusk, he would carry the calf on his back, walking up and down the rocky hill near his house. The villagers laughed at him, assuming that Uwais had completely lost his mind.

Carrying His Mother to the Holy Land

Months passed by. The calf had now grown into a massive, healthy cow. At the same time, the muscles in Uwais's arms and back had developed to become extraordinarily strong.

Only then did everyone realize the true purpose behind the young man's bizarre daily training. Uwais was physically preparing himself to carry a heavy burden on his back.

When the Hajj season arrived, Uwais wrapped himself in the Ihram garments. He gently lifted his frail mother and carried her on his well-trained back.

Step by step, he pushed through the blistering heat of the desert from Yemen all the way to Mecca. Sweat poured down his entire body, yet he never once let his mother feel uncomfortable.

Unknown on Earth, Praised in the Heavens

His grueling struggle paid off beautifully. Uwais successfully carried his mother to circle the Kaaba. In front of the holy house, his mother cried tears of joy and prayed for his salvation in this world and the hereafter.

This incredible story of devotion apparently echoed all the way to the heavens. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ once left a message for his companions, Umar bin Khattab and Ali bin Abi Thalib, before he passed away.

"One day, a man from Yemen named Uwais Al-Qarni will come. On earth, he is completely unknown, but in the heavens, his name is highly praised," the Prophet said.

"If you two ever meet him, ask him to pray for your forgiveness, because his prayers will never be rejected by God," the Prophet continued.

That message proved to be true. When Umar and Ali finally found Uwais during the Hajj season years later, they saw a young man in shabby clothes praying devoutly. The two great companions humbly asked for a prayer from the poor shepherd.

The Moral of the Story

The story of Uwais Al-Qarni is a short tale filled with profound life lessons. The greatest moral of this folklore is the high status of a child who serves their parents with pure sincerity.

Uwais teaches us that worldly popularity and wealth mean absolutely nothing compared to a mother's blessing. A parent's blessing is the ultimate key that unlocks the doors of God's favor for every step we take in life.

His sacrifice of carrying his mother across the desert also proves that true love always requires struggle and strong mental endurance, not just sweet words.
